Laparoscopic Surgery

This minimally-invasive surgery has been available in human medicine for many years. Laparoscopy is surgery that is performed with instruments inside the abdominal cavity through small incisions. The procedure is visualized on a monitor. Recovery and pain control is significantly better than with traditional abdominal surgery. Dr. Brown has received additional training and has a special interest in laparoscopic procedures including laparoscopic spays like ovariectomy and ovariohysterectomy, biopsy of the kidneys, pancreas, liver, and intestine, gastropexy (to prevent bloat in large dogs), cystopexy and other procedures where rigid endoscopy can be used.
